The Novocastrians have resurrected many folk wrestling arts from Earth's British Isles, which they regard as part of their cultural heritage. One of these is the traditional Devonshire style, in which the grapplers originally wore hard shoes - and proceeded to kick each others shins raw and bloody until one of them was sufficiently weakened to be thrown or tripped. However, the latest incarnation of the sport involves weaponized boots capable of delivering a focused explosion at whomever one kicks. As a consequence wrestlers tent to wear substantial armor when grappling under Devonshire rules.
