Overview
Poisoned Apples are items unique to the Dark Brotherhood Resurrection. They are inspired by the poisoned apples from Oblivion
Location
- There are several Apples lying around the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary, but since the sanctuary does not reset these apples will never respawn.
- You can buy Poisoned Apples from Averna at 300g a piece.
- During the quest The Merchant of Silver Averna will give you three poisoned apples for free
Usage
To use a poisoned apple, simply drop 1 near a non-essential NPC. If everything goes to plan, the following will happen:
- Nearest NPC will walk to the apple, and pick it up
- NPC will then find furniture such as a chair, table, or stool to interact with
- Upon sitting down, or 'interacting' with the furniture, the NPC will eat the apple
- NPC will immediately die upon consuming apple
If for some reason the NPC is unable to find furniture to interact with, they will appear to just stand there frozen. After six hours they will finally eat the apple and die.
- UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU EAT THE POISONED APPLES!! The apples cause 100pts of damage to health each second. It may be possible for a high-level character to survive for a while, but their death is inevitable
Notes
The poisoned apple becomes 'owned' by the nearest NPC when you drop it (this is so the NPC can pick it up without 'stealing'). This means if you drop the apple, you will be called a thief if you are seen picking it up again. If you do pick it up without being seen it will appear in your inventory as 'stolen'. But the minute you drop it again, it's ownership will change to that of the nearest npc
Bugs
- Sometimes NPC's seem unable to pick up the Apple. In this case you will have to pick it up for them and try dropping it again
- Only one apple at a time works. E.g. If you drop one apple, and NPC fails to pick it up, dropping another apple will have no effect.
- If an NPC picks up your apple, but doesn't eat it right away, any more poison apples will fail to work until the first NPC eats it and dies
