Pieces of armor with built-in AI can be useful when trekking around the galaxy, providing both protection and companionship. So, a programmer reasoned, surely putting two separate artificial intelligences in a pair of gloves would make then twice as good? The result of this somewhat dubious logic was Droit and Gauche, and a nervous breakdown. The two gloves have a heated rivalry, which has always proven most vexing for their long-suffering wearers. Listening to one's clothing arguing with itself in loud, vociferous tones for hours on end is enough to drive most people crazy.
