The name of this sinister object is translated from an alien tongue, and denotes the repugnance with which it tends to be viewed. Its needle usually contains a special toxin designed to bring agony rather than immediate death, providing an edge in combat whilst still giving the attacker the pleasure of finishing the opponent off. Variations of the device have been known to incorporate chemicals designed to damage robots, however.
