The original idea behind this technology was that people could shove foodstuffs directly into their torsos, as a quicker and more efficient way of ingesting their meals. But during a street fight, someone wearing this eclectic garment happened to put an adversary in a headlock -- at which point the armor consumed the woman's head (and fed the extracted nutrients into the wearer's body). Hence phagic combat experienced a mild resurgence within a handful of human cultures.
