On my first mission we went into a cave complex where some smugglers were hiding out. Except I took a wrong turn down one of the tunnels. Ended up walking straight into a huge mutant owl nest -- startled the damn things. By the time I staggered out of there my helmet was so covered with bird crap that I couldn't see. When I heard gunfire, I knew from the sounds their weapons were making that it wasn't our guys. So I opened up. Blew them all to bits.
