The Khalsa Lions are frequently described as a mercenary group. However, this doesn't do them full justice. Though they do hire themselves out to the various factions of human space, such as the Sian Empire or Novocastrians, they'll only accept tasks which suit their moral guidelines - in particular those that involve eliminating space pirates or protecting the weak against unjust aggression.
