During the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, the high-profile use of supposedly occult powers by certain Emergents caused humanity to debate the existence of such things with renewed fervor. This led to a boom in sales of books about the paranormal. In more recent times scholars have tended to attribute the Emergents' deeds to psionic abilities instead -- impressive and unusual, but easily explained via science. However, this hasn't stopped a number of men and women from making a decent living investigating reports of paranormal occurrences from a more superstitious viewpoint. | |
