During the closing years of their ill-fated war with the Huk-Kral, some Quiskerians advocated total withdrawal -- realizing that they could never hope to hold their territory against so powerful an enemy. They argued that they'd be better off seeking and annexing habitable worlds in another part of the galaxy. The idea was controversial in the extreme, but it won enough influential support for expeditionary ships to be kitted out with experimental warp drives and sent off into the void.
