|text=Hunting clubs are important institutions in most settlements where Vlargs dwell in large numbers. Their exact role varies a great deal depending on local conditions and customs, however. In small, backwater colonies a club might serve the more traditional purpose of being a place for hunters to display their kills and celebrate after a hunt. Whereas in sprawling Vlarg cities they may be more akin to gentlemen's lounges, their membership coveted by those who wish to enhance their social standing and network with prominent citizens. In towns where Vlargs are a minority, surrounded by alien races, the hunting club often becomes the heart of an insular community. It's traditional to wear a ring denoting one's club, whether for bragging purposes or so that members of larger clubs will recognize one another in daily life.
