|text=5. Governor Pasc unveiled the new creature corrupted nature and Centurian science had conspired to create, and she did so in a dramatic fashion. She invited a number of Collective officials to Slubulus, had an aircraft fly them above a vast lake, and ordered her guards to bring up the prisoners who had been placed in the cargo hold in preparation. These men and women had attempted to lead a general strike in an effort to secure better working conditions -- hardly a sensible proposition on a Centurian-controlled world. Perhaps the folly of their deeds occured to them as they were hurled from the craft, and tumbled towards the murky waters below. If not, it may have done so when the monster rose from its depths and devoured them. But either way, the sludge serpent was born.
