Thing is, we found it in the husk of this relic of an old Earth cruiser that was drifting out in dead space. Sent a crew to sift through the wreckage for anything worthwhile, and there it was all locked up in the ship's belly looking sorry for itself.

God damn cruiser had probably been out there a couple hundred years, and this thing was in it. Just waiting for a ride.
