|text=4. For at least a century the Quiskerians reigned unopposed. Their contact with other spacefaring species was by and large favorable, due to their vast separation from any significant territory held by their galactic neighbors. When they met the Rylattu, for example, they were dealing with roving traders - and thus purchased doomsday devices rather than tasting them. At other times they encountered isolated exploration ships, which could be obliterated without consequence. But eventually mutual expansion brought their empire close to that of the Huk-Kral. Perhaps the Quiskerians had become haughty becuase of their success, and believed themselves invincible. In any event, when members of the two species both laid claim to the same world, the Quiskerians declared war.
