|text=9. That quietness, where interesting stories had once thrived, haunted Gemini. He found himself neglecting several reports. He started listening more intently, determined to hear the fullness of the stories, to figure them out before they were silenced.

He wrote them in his journal, recording the code and suspicious talk before they were snuffed out, or before he had no choice but to report them himself or lose his job.

One day he listened to someone named Aries, who was asking too many questions about rehabilitation -- how it worked, what exactly it did. These were the sort of questions that got flagged. But instead of reporting, Gemini waited to hear the answers.

The person on the other end was silent for a long time before she finally spoke. She told Aries that she could explain, but not over the communication network. Never over the communication network. She said someone was always listening. But before Aries disconnected, she said they were safe for the moment -- because it was her twin brother listening in on the call. And he would help them.
