|text=3. Gemini was twelve when he learned the destructive power of words.

His grandfather told him a story -- but unlike the ones he had spoken before, this one was about Gemini. He said two children had been born at the same time, a boy and a girl. Gemini and his sister.

While the questions that followed were natural, the answers had a strangeness to them. There was a gravity in his grandfather's voice he'd never heard before.

What happened to her? She was taken after first conditioning for special training. Why? Because she had a special gift.

His grandfather gave him a small book, a hardcopy journal. One in which he could write and perhaps, one day, find answers where there had been only questions. This journal was given to him with one rule: he was not to tell anyone about his sister.
