The knife spinner gave the signal. The contraption spun. His vision swirled around the vast tent until the universe melted into a dreaming wave of color, and the acrobat was lost amidst the flow.

He didn't know when the spinning had stopped. He simply blinked as the tent, the cheering crowd, and the bowing acrobat coalesced before his eyes. He was no longer bound. Twelve blades shimmered around him, and parted silk fluttered in a gentle breeze.
