Main Hand

A lot of tricks and tech can make taking a vessel easier, but nothing can completely replace needing the basic willingness to look the crew in the eye and pull the trigger.

Off Hand

A cutting tool that can bore easily through a bulkhead or blast door can make the difference between capturing a ship and being completely shut out of the bridge and engine rooms. They're also an intimidating close combat weapon, as few species enjoy a knife of hot plasma in the gut.

Helmet

Boarding requires working in absolute unison, acting as one predatory wave sweeping forward without hesitation. Boarding helmets link the wearers together on a neural level, making them aware of each other's movements as much as they are their own hands or legs.

Chest

Advanced maneuvering systems make the boarding equipment function as nimbly as a fighter in zero gravity, enabling the wearer to approach vessels undetected by systems that would raise alert on detecting larger moving bodies.

Gloves

The greatest danger to a boarding party is total surrender. No matter how well equipped you may be, or how perfectly trained, if the ship's captain decides defeat is certain and detonates the engine with your party on board you'll be just as dead as the ship.

Pants

Nonlethal bodily injury is more common during boarding runs than in any other variety of space combat. Unfortunately, what doesn't kill you can still cost you your life if a wound slows you down of causes you to falter at the wrong moment. The longest lived boarders are the most proficient at ignoring pain and fatigue.

Boots

Magnetic clamps enable the wearer to easily maintain balance on a ship's hull, and to navigate inside after the gravitational systems have been knocked out anf the crew is floating helplessly.

Trinket

Most explosives can't be used within the narrow confines of a starship without posing as much danger to the user as they do to the target. For this reason, electrical and sonic based grenades are more preferred by boarders.

Utility

A small shaped charge can be more effective than an entire salvo of torpedoes, in that it can be carefully placed and triggered by a boarding party in order to access and control a sensitive or poorly defended area of the ship with minimal structural damage.
